WHO WE ARE

Bollards Plus is a bollard manufacturer based in Houston, Texas. Since 2015, we have designed. fabricated, and delivered steel bollards, concrete bollards, removable bollards, decorative bollards, bollard covers, and barrier systems for contractors, architects, engineers, municipalities, industrial facilities, commercial property owners, industrial supplies, retailers, and homeowners across the country.

We operate the way no other bollard company des: shop our catalog, customize any standard product to your exact needs, or send us your plans and we build it from scratch. One manufacturer. One facility. On Team — in Houston — handling all three.

That's how Bollards plus was founded. And that is still how we operate to this day.

OUR ORIGIN STORY

Bollards Plus did not start with a business plan, a pitch deck, or outside funding. It started with a problem — a large volume of nitril rubber waste from the oil and gas industry and a prayer for a solution to a problem.

Our owner has spent her career building from scratch — companies, systems, and the tools to run them across technology and industry. What she carried from one venture to the next was never a playbook — it was conviction: that the right way to build a business is to start with what the customer actually needs and engineer everything backward from there.

Her most recent venture before Bollards Plus was an oil and gas service company she built alongside her husbands — designing and fabricating heir own proprietary equipment with limited capital and no outside expertise because no other option existed. When there is no blueprint to follow and no one who has solved the problem beforehand, you learn to build the answer. That skill — starting with yes and engineering backwards is still how the company operates.

That venture left he with a practical problem: a large volume of nitrile rubber waster she did not want to landfill, but storing it posed environmental risks, so she prayed for a solution.

What came to her was a question: could she convert the rubber into those posts she had seen around trash bins and gas stations? She didn't even know what they were called, but she searched for the answer and it was Bollards.

She had never worked in the industry. She didn't know any product categories. She didn't know the supply chain. She taught it all to herself. She built a bollard that incorporated the nitrile rubber — reasoning that the added cushion could be a selling point. Then she built a website to test whether the idea had legs — and it did. The calls started coming in fast. The catch: customers were not calling for the rubber bollard she designed — they were calling for steel, concrete, and custom fabricated bollards for specific jobs.

She said yes to every one of them.

That willingness to say yes — and then engineer the answer — is how Bollards Plus became what it is today. In the early days, they installed what they sold, working alongside contractors across the Houston area. That field experience gave the company something no catalog can replicate: a ground-level understanding of what contractors actually need, how installations go wrong, and what makes a product genuinely useful on a job site versus one that creates a problem.

The company was 100% bootstrapped. No outside investment. No partners brought in to fill the gaps. Growth came entirely from demand, delivered on job after job. Quitting as never on the table — because the same conviction that built the company from nothing is what keeps it moving forward.

BUILT CUSTOM FROM DAY ONE

When bollards plus launched in 2015, the bollard market looked very different that it does today. A handful of large domestic companies dominated the space — most of them sell product manufactured overseas or by third-party fabricators under their own label. Genuine in-house U.S manufacturing was rare. Custom work was still much rarer.

The market has since gotten more crowded and more complicated. Bollards have flooded into retail distribution channels — Uline, Grainger, Amazon, Home Depot — largely driven by overseas manufacturers competing on price. More companies now claim customization capabilities, but most route those requests through the same overseas or third-party fabricators they have always used. The label changes. The supply chain does not

Bollards Plus was built on a different model from the start — and has spent a decade evolving to stay ahead of a market that keeps shifting.

We offer three things that no single competitor can match together: an exceptional standard product line, infinite configuration of any standard product, and the ability to build entirely from your plans or specifications. That combination is not a marketing position. It is the structure of the business — built into our systems, our production lines, our team, and our workflow from day one.

Over the years, we have quoted tens of thousands of jobs and competed thousands of custom designs. Many of our customers are contractor bidding on projects, which means the volume of designs we have worked through far exceeds which means the volume of designs we've worked through far exceeds even the jobs we've won. That library of real-world specifications — across commercial, industrial, municipal, utility, architectural, and residential applications — is not something a competitor can acquire by buying a welding machine or adding a "custom" tab to their website. It represents a decade of solving problems others wouldn't take on.

That depth of experience also means our quoting process works differently than most. Because we have built designs like yours before — and have the documentation to prove it — we turn custom quotes around fast, with drawings, and at volume.

When we quote a job, customers can count on three things: what we bid, we can build; there are no hourly upcharges or scope creep surprises; and raw material costs are priced at the time of the quote. No budget overruns. No re-negotiation mid-project. Just a number you can take to your client and stand behind.

That same engineering depth is what separates our designs from what most buyers receive elsewhere. Customers regularly bring us specifications that are over-engineered for the application, designed in ways that drive unnecessary cost, or simply won't perform the way the original designer intended. Because we have built thousands of real-world installations, we can look at a drawing and immediately identify where the design can be improved — meeting or exceeding the performance goal of the original spec at a lower cost, with better field outcomes. That is value engineering in the truest sense: not cutting corners to hit a price, but applying real fabrication and field experience to deliver a smarter solution. For contractors and specifiers who are staring at a design that's pricing their customer out of the project — or calling every supplier in the country and still can't find anyone who can build it — that capability is the difference between a job that moves forward and one that doesn't.

Today, only a handful of bollard companies in the country actually manufacture in-house. Of those, none are structured to handle the full range — stock, modified, and fully custom — with the depth of engineering and fabrication experience we've built over ten years. Our systems, equipment, and workflow were designed for constant variation, not standardization. That's why contractors, architects, engineers, facility managers, and industrial buyers call us when the answer from everyone else is: "That's not something we normally do."

Custom work isn't an exception to our process. Neither is having exactly what you need in stock. Both are the point.

READY TO SHIP. READY TO CUSTOMIZE.

The catalog runs hundreds of primary SKUs across 22 active product lines, with more in preparation — making it one of the largest manufacturer-held bollard catalogs in the country. The product types span steel bollards, concrete bollards, removable and surface-mount bollards, in-ground bollards, decorative and lighted bollards, bollard covers, sleeves, and specialty barrier systems. That range exists because the problems being solved are genuinely different: vehicle intrusion protection and ram raid defense at a storefront, perimeter protection around infrastructure, pedestrian separation in a busy lot, traffic deterrence, access control, crowd management, event protection, architectural definition. Most companies that stock a catalog don't manufacture it. Most that manufacture don't hold inventory. Bollards Plus does both.

Any standard product in that catalog can be modified. Height, material thickness, finish and color — including custom color matching to automotive-grade standards — collar style, cap style, sloped cuts with caps, decorative reveals, embedded anchoring systems, chain loops, lifting handles: all of it is available as a build modification on any SKU. BAA, TAA, and Domestic MTR material compliance is also available on any product as a buyer-controlled upgrade. It isn't bundled into baseline pricing because the majority of customers don't need it and it adds cost that serves no purpose for a commercial or private project. Buyers working on federal, municipal, or government-funded projects that require domestic material sourcing can request it — and it's handled the same way everything else is: in-house.

That last point matters more than it might seem. The catalog and the fabrication operation aren't separate businesses running under one name. IT'S THE SAME TEAM, THE SAME FLOOR, THE SAME FACILITY. When a standard product gets modified, it doesn't get handed off to a third party who holds a different lead time and answers to a different chain of accountability. The modification moves through the same shop as the stock order next to it. That's what makes the three-tier model real rather than a marketing claim.

The combination serves buyers at every stage of a project: spec writers building a product library, estimators pricing a job, purchasing agents placing repeat orders, project managers who need a field variation of something they've ordered before, and government contractors who need a compliance-certified build. Shop it off the shelf, modify it to the spec, or build it from the ground up. One source, one team, all in Houston.

HOW WE WORK

Customers can reach Bollards Plus any way they want — online catalog, customization tool, quick quote, drawing submission, email, construction software integrations, or phone. None of those channels route into a queue, a regional office, or a holding pattern. Whichever way a customer comes in, they land directly with the person who can get the job done. No project number required to get a quote. No quote requests that disappear into a black hole.

When you call, a salesperson answers — someone who works with these products every single day, not a receptionist and not someone who needs to look it up. The quote target is within one hour for most requests. Complex jobs take longer, but the team tracks bid deadlines and makes sure customers have what they need before they have to bid. When drawings are needed with the quote, they come with it.

Bollards Plus carries inventory but keeps volumes tight — that discipline passes cost savings directly to customers on build batches and keeps product lines flexible enough to build and customize quickly, without being locked into large stock positions. Custom and modified orders run just-in-time. The production lines were designed from the start to handle high daily variation — wide swings in order type, size, and complexity are not exceptions to the workflow, they are the workflow. Tight lead times are routine because the operation was built to deliver them, not because the right order happened to come in at the right time.

The paint system is in-house. Color matching is custom, corrosion resistance is automotive-grade, and there is no list of approved colors to choose from — if a color exists, it can be matched. That last detail is a small example of a larger principle: every operational decision here, from how the phone gets answered to how the paint line runs, is built around what the customer actually needs to get the job done.

WHO WE SERVE

Construction professionals: estimators, buyers, and project managers — need specs hit and quotes back before the bid window closes. Bollards Plus runs a one-hour quote turnaround on most requests, tracks bid deadlines, and includes drawings when the job requires them. No project number needed to get started, and no black hole once a request is submitted. Custom requirements get handled the same way standard ones do: directly, by the same team, on the same floor where the product gets built.

Architects and engineers use Bollards Plus to move specs from drawing to finished product — including non-standard specs. A significant part of that work involves approved equal situations: specs that are over-engineered for the application or priced out of reality. Bollards Plus can look at a drawing, identify where the design can be adjusted, and deliver a product that meets or exceeds the original performance goal at lower cost. For an architect or engineer trying to keep a project moving, that capability is often the difference between a job that advances and one that stalls.

Commercial property owners: banks, retail businesses, restaurants, hospitals, and property managers — come to Bollards Plus directly or through their contractors. Either way, the support runs from specification through delivery. The stainless steel bollard covers, proprietary to Bollards Plus, are a consistent choice among commercial owners and architects who need a finished appearance that holds up over time.

Industrial facilities and utilities: manufacturing plants, warehouses, refineries, and processing facilities, often operate in environments where standard bollards fall short. That's why, Bollards Plus developed two crash-engineered lines: the M40 and PU40. As most crash-rated bollards are priced beyond the reach of many buyers, the design priority was affordability. Bollards Plus engineered both the product and installation method to reduce costs. Both lines are validated through finite element analysis simulation to meet ASTM F2656/F2656M-23, providing the technical credentials specifiers need in a product with attainable vehicle barrier protection.

Municipalities and government agencies protect public assets, infrastructure, and critical facilities work within procurement timelines and compliance requirements that demand documentation. BAA/TAA compliance and Domestic MTR availability are buyer-controlled upgrades, available on any product. The M40 and PU40 crash-engineered lines apply here as well — public space protection and event security have the same affordability constraints as the private sector.

Retailers and private label buyers fit two models: catalog retailers adding Bollards Plus products to their existing lines, and buyers who want a bollard manufactured under their own brand. Bollards Plus supports both — domestic manufacturer behind a retail offering, or full private label fabrication. The stainless steel bollard covers move particularly well through the reseller channel.

Steel suppliers and fabricators regularly send specialized jobs to Bollards Plus — work that falls outside their core capability or would disrupt their standard production flow. When the people who build things for a living need something built, they call us.

Homeowners aim to protect driveways, garages, workshops, utilities, and other valuable property from accidental vehicle impacts without wanting an industrial-looking solution or a commercial-sized budget. Bollards Plus offers permanent and removable bollards that provide durable, effective protection while complementing residential spaces with a variety of sizes, styles, and finish options.

THE RANGE OF WHAT WE BUILD

Bollards Plus publishes 22 active product lines across 6 primary categories, with hundreds of primary SKUs — and that represents only what's in the online catalog. A significant body of work never appears on the site at all, built to customer spec, industry need, or applications that don't fit a standard product page.

Products are organized primarily by mounting style:

Crash Engineered Bollards

Two lines sit in a category of their own: the M40 and PU40 crash-engineered bollards. Both are designed to meet real vehicle impact performance standards, validated through finite element analysis simulation in accordance with ASTM F2656/F2656M-23. The design priority for both was affordability. Most crash-rated bollards carry a price point that puts genuine vehicle barrier protection out of reach for the majority of buyers who actually need it. Bollards Plus engineered both the product and the installation method to change that — so the protection is attainable, not just specifiable.

BEYOND THE STANDARD CATALOG

The custom protective work is a different category entirely — not variations on catalog items, but purpose-built solutions to problems that don't have an off-the-shelf answer. Bollards Plus has engineered removable bay door security systems, removable guardrail systems, and semi-permanent guardrail systems for airport parking garages — structures designed to deliver real vehicle protection without any structural mounting to the floor or walls. Custom precast concrete bollards with painted markings have been built for beach access and drop-off zone management. Custom perimeter protection systems have been designed and fabricated for facilities with requirements that nothing in any standard catalog could meet. When the standard product doesn't solve the problem, the solution gets engineered from scratch. Every customization dimension available on standard builds is available on custom work too — height, material, finish, collar, cap, anchoring systems, chain loops, lifting handles, and compliance with BAA, TAA, or MTR requirements.

Same team. Same floor. Same accountability.

Then there's the other work — the jobs that have nothing to do with vehicle barriers but everything to do with how this company operates. A steel outdoor cat run connecting a shop to a residential structure. A light switch adapter fabricated for a national automotive service chain. A bollard engineered specifically to mount a telescope for outdoor viewing. These aren't the core of what Bollards Plus does, and nobody is pretending otherwise. But they exist because the answer here has always been yes first. If it can be fabricated from steel and a customer needs it, the conversation starts with "how," not "whether."

The breadth of the catalog, the depth of custom capability, and the willingness to take on work nobody else will aren't separate things. They come from the same place: a company built around what customers actually need, not around what's convenient to manufacture. The product pipeline reflects that — dozens of new lines currently in development, each one driven by real demand from real customers. The catalog keeps growing because the problems customers bring keep growing, and the answer here doesn't start with "we don't do that."

OUR PEOPLE & CULTURE

"The way you do anything is the way you do everything."

That's not a motivational poster — it's the operating principle. Standards here don't have a dial. The way a job gets done when it's easy is the same way it gets done when it's hard. That consistency is built into how the team is structured: everyone in the company — sales, production, design, shipping — is cross-trained across all functions. Not as a backup plan, but by design. It keeps the operation flexible when one area gets slammed, and it gives people a real path to grow. You don't advance by staying in your lane here. You advance by learning the whole operation.

The values that hold this place together aren't posted on a wall. Faith drives how people show up — to customers, to teammates, to partners. Service isn't a department; it's the default orientation. Honesty and integrity mean something specific here: if something goes wrong, the answer isn't to manage the optics. It's to own it, say so directly, and make it right. That kind of honesty costs something in the short term and builds something in the long term. People here understand the difference.

We call it a Builder's Mindset — and it's a named framework, not a phrase. It means stepping into the unknown without freezing, defaulting to "how do we fix this" instead of "whose fault is it," and treating failure as a tool rather than a verdict. People here sharpen each other. That mindset also shapes how accountability works: people are trusted to own their work and deliver without being managed into it. The autonomy is real, and so is the expectation. The four operating pillars — Speed, Ingenuity, Elite Execution, and Relentless Advancement — are what that mindset looks like in practice, every day.

None of this stays inside the building. The same qualities that make someone a strong member of this team — honest, service-oriented, solution-focused, accountable — are the same qualities customers experience when they work with Bollards Plus. That's not an accident. It's the same people, operating the same way, whether the problem is on the shop floor or in the middle of a customer's project.

BUILT ON TECHNOLOGY. DESIGNED FOR THIS BUSINESS.

Bollards Plus operates as three things at once: a retail e-commerce seller, a manufacturer, and a custom fabricator. Off-the-shelf business software isn't built for that combination — most tools assume you're doing one thing. Our founder has a deep background in technology and strategy, and she personally designed every system this business runs on. That includes a MACH (Microservices, API-first, Cloud-native, Headless) architecture — enterprise-grade infrastructure that's uncommon in manufacturing — along with custom configurations across every SaaS application in our stack. The result is systems that match how we actually operate, not the other way around.

That infrastructure isn't static. It's continuously refined to stay ahead of how technology and the broader internet landscape are shifting — capturing real benefits without building expensive overhead into our cost structure. Most companies in the bollard and protective barrier space aren't technology-oriented. That gap shows up for our customers in concrete ways: faster quotes, smoother ordering, better product information, and a buying experience that reflects what a modern supplier should actually feel like.

Because this approach is unusual for the industry, our founder is regularly asked by other small business owners to advise on how to adapt these systems for their own operations. That's not the point of the work — it's built for our customers first — but the recognition is a signal that we're solving problems others haven't cracked. As AI, search, and e-commerce continue to evolve fast, having a technology-first founder running a manufacturing business is an increasingly real competitive advantage — not just internally, but for every customer who depends on us to stay easy to work with.
